Testimonials

Summer was brought on to direct the live performance of our workshop after we had already recorded an initial virtual reading. By that time, I had already had my script for two months, had read it a good 50 times. After my first time reading with Summer, I was stunned and delighted by the way she was asking questions and reading the work in ways that I still had yet to see.

My casemates and I quietly began to call her "genius" behind her back. She has an ability to read between the lines and queues that allows her to pull out tiny story details that paint larger picture around the characters and plot, bringing a more intricate story to life. Working with Summer for even a short amount of time has strengthened my acting and character development skills. I hope that more actors and technicians are blessed to work with Summer at some point in their careers. -- Dallas Diaz, Stormé DeLarverie in STORMÉ

I would say that I definitely benefited from this artistically being someone who has been in theater for so long...After doing this for roughly 12 to 15 years, the positive reinforcement, the encouragement made by Summer the director was phenomenal. -- Cindy AnaCaona Peralta, #NOTYOUTOO and Love Vet, IFC2019

...What was so wonderful is that every experience I had with Summer was loving, it was warm, it made me so happy that I took the risk! So if you’re out there and you’re thinking of submitting, do not be afraid. Go for it. You will be welcomed with open arms and tons of love. -- Phyllis Blanford, The Voice, IFC2019

Summer pitched that at the beginning of my piece that I cry and then laugh, and I remember she was like, "Is that weird? Is that uncomfortable?" And I said, "For me, yes, but as an actor, it is my job to at least try."

And so even though I the person was uncomfortable I was able to separate it and even during our rehearsals I was like, maybe it won't land, maybe nobody will like it and we'll get rid of it, but the way that my team responded to it made me realize that OK, this is something that I should put everything in, and then it landed!

So yeah, I appreciate her knowing that it might be uncomfortable but that as a performer it matters more that I try.
